Did you know the protagonist in The Little Mermaid wanted to go to the human world
way before she first met the prince?
I do! Because I’ve been so inspired by her desire to see the world, that I based my entire bachelor project on that aspect
of the original Hans Christian Andersen fairytale!
Hey there, my name is Sarah
and I’m a queer illustrator and media designer living in Germany (most of the time).
I still let the desire to travel, but also my passion for fantasy and mystery, lead me in my quest to create worlds and stories with my artworks.
I’ve lived most of my life in Germany, apart from when I fulfilled my childhood dream of going to a far away place in 2017. And I literally couldn’t have gone further when I went to New Zealand for a self-organized year of work and travel.

That year has shaped my art and life in big ways, in that I have since been to Hong Kong, Italy and more places than ever before. And I don’t plan on stopping my journey to find more inspiration and get to know more people and cultures any time soon
However, in 2019 I paused my travel plans to start my design bachelor’s degree, focusing on illustration and media design, at the Münster School of Design, which was another dream come true! Before that, however, I finished my vocational training and education as a youth care worker in 2017.
Over the last few years I have gotten way more open about my own queerness and vocal about activism, especially in the areas of LGBTQIA+ rights and feminism. In the past I have contributed to a documentary about the livelihoods of garment workers in Sri Lanka and taken part in various independent charity projects that raised money for charities like the International Dark Sky Association and UNICEF.
Would you like me to draw you into my world?
Then drop me a line,
Sarah
P.S. Texts in Englisch or German are both totally fine.
